Bronx youths tackle pressing issues in YouTube series

Posted: Updated:
KINGSBRIDGE -

Young Bronx leaders at Sisters and Brothers United created a YouTube series in which they get real about issues they face as students and community members.

Sistas and Brothas United, or SBU, is a program under the North Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition, which fights for economic and racial justice around the borough.

The 20 to 30 kids involved in SBU come for tutoring, college preparedness and to learn how to organize, take a stand and use their voice. They say the YouTube show is a perfect way to get more people to learn about them and their issues.

There are about six crew members for "All Tea No Sugar" -- all of them brainstorming the next topic and learning to shoot, edit and host the show.

So far, they've addressed topics like arrests and summonses in schools, racial bias in schools and family dynamics.
