Shoppers flock to Mount Hope hardware store ahead of storm

MORRIS HEIGHTS -

Local hardware stores are cranking out snow-related items ahead of the weekend’s storm.

Gabi’s Hardware store is stocked up on calcium chloride and salt. They also have shovels and car scrapers.

The store says this winter season has not been very busy but they are urging customers to buy their essentials now before the storm hits this weekend.

City officials say the city has been prepping all week and will have 1600 plows and 700 salt spreaders available.

News 12 meteorologists say a quick burst of snow Saturday night will be followed by soaking rains that will freeze and turn to ice on Sunday.
