One Bronx baker is getting her moment in the spotlight on Food Network’s newest cooking show.
Melody Velez-Ortega, of Williamsbridge, has been a baker and businesswoman for the past ten years and has recently landed an opportunity to compete on ‘Winner Cakes All.’
Velez-Ortega says she never imagined becoming a professional baker during her college years when she studied criminal justice and forensic science. But a little bit of passion and fate eventually led her to create MDV Custom Cakes. It’s been a delicious experience thus far – Velez-Ortega has since become known as the celebrity hip-hop baker.
Velez-Ortega and her team have baked for Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Young Jeezy and for events hosted by Hot 97 and the Starz TV show Power.
The baker says she has always wanted to be on Food Network.
"We bring the energy wherever we at so you will be entertained,” she says.
