NYPD conducts cold water emergency drills in Prospect Park

The NYPD conducted cold water emergency recovery training at Prospect Park Lake Wednesday, hoping to be ready to rescue victims from any body of water around the city.
Officers learned how to use line launchers and ladders to save people who fall into cold water during the winter months. They worked with the techniques in order to use their equipment most effectively.
They also learned how to handle victims dealing with severe hypothermia and how to use everyday items to help victims crawl to safe surface.
