A Mount Vernon man is in custody following a manhunt that spanned across two states and three counties.
Police say Howard Rowlett stole a BMW and hit a police car in Westchester on Thursday.
Authorities say Rowlett then took off and crashed by Mount Saint Michael High School in the Bronx. Rowlett hit an officer with the car as he tried to get away.
Police say Rowlett later went to a hospital in Stamford, Connecticut and claimed he was shot outside of a restaurant.
Police discovered Rowlett had been shot by police after he hit officers with his car on the border of Mount Vernon and the Bronx.
