Wave of bitterly cold temps hits the Bronx

A brutal wave of cold temperatures has hit the Bronx, as residents try to find ways to escape the Arctic-like air.
Temperatures in the single digits were paired with high winds, making wind chills fall well below zero. The bitter cold followed a quick blast of snow that hit the area Wednesday afternoon.
Some Castle Hill residents were caught outside as they had to go shopping or commuted home, bundled up to face the elements.
The arctic vortex will continue into Thursday, with highs only reaching around 17 degrees.
