NEW YORK -

NYPD officers fatally shot a man in Lower Manhattan this morning after officers say he charged at them with a knife.

They say a woman called 911 around 7:30 a.m. to report a dispute at a building near the base of the Manhattan Bridge.

When officers arrived, they say the knife-wielding man confronted one of them, which led to shots being fired.

The incident occurred on Cherry Street, off the FDR Drive.

That knife was recovered.
