Boogie Down Bites: Mamajuana Café

A cafe in Schuyerville features Latin flavor with a touch of Caribbean infusion.
Mamajuana Cafe on East Tremont Avenue is named after its signature drink from the Dominican Republican, the Mamajuana, a mixture of herbs, roots and spices that are cured for three months.
Head Chef Patrick Charles creates what he says is an artistry of colors and flavors leading to what he calls his creative masterpieces.
One of his most requested dishes is the red snapper. It is a crispy, whole Mediterranean snapper stuffed with fresh seafood and topped with creole sauce.
For those craving something more authentic, there's Mamajuana's paella. It comes with a half lobster, shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, roasted peppers, sweet peas and rice.
The restaurant is open seven days a week with Tuesday night featuring a live, 18-piece band.
