United Bodegas of America to push for marijuana sales rights
Members of the United Bodegas of America are gathering in the Bronx Sunday, asking local leaders to create a network that will allow the UBA packaging and distribution rights of marijuana at bodegas across the five boroughs.
The moves comes as many anticipate the legalization of recreational marijuana in New York state.
A spokesman for the UBA released a statement that reads in part: “There is no question that responsible, safe haven bodegas should get first cracks at providing people that choose to smoke marijuana with a local place to buy it. We are licensed and qualify to sell beer. Why not include us in the marijuana package?”
