The NYPD says a man hit and killed by a train in Hartsdale Sunday morning was a suspect in a double homicide in Belmont.

Police tell News 12 Hector Cruz was hit and killed by a train at the Hartsdale train station in Westchester, causing northbound traffic to close for hours.

Officials say they believe Cruz's death was non-accidental.

The NYPD says he was a person of interest after 51-year-old Marisol Ortiz and her son, 14-year-old Alanche Delorbe, were found dead in their Belmont apartment Sunday afternoon.

Officials say they both had apparent head trauma. Sources say the mother and son appear to have been bludgeoned to death with an exercise weight.

News 12 is told that Ortiz was also possibly stabbed and was found lying on the floor in the bedroom. Her son, Delorbe, was found in a bed inside another room.

Police have not confirmed reports that Cruz was Ortiz's boyfriend.
