Habitat for Humanity hosts MLK volunteer event in Highbridge

HIGHBRIDGE -

Habitat for Humanity kicked off the last week of Black History Month by honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a volunteer event Sunday.

Over 40 volunteers repainted and revitalized a multifamily affordable housing building at 1185 Anderson Ave.

The organization says it works to keep the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. alive, and that his advocacy for fair housing practices is the reason for this specific effort.

This is the 20th year Habitat for Humanity has held its Building on the Dream Day of Service, which is a nationwide effort.

The event was sponsored by UJA-Federation of New York, a philanthropy organization.
