Family of coma victim sets up scholarship fund to help community
The family of a Bronx native who has been in a coma for four years showed their appreciation for the community by starting a scholarship fund in her name.
Tauren Malena Deas, 32, has been in the coma as a result of a car crash during Christmas vacation in Maryland with her family four years ago.
On Sunday, they celebrated her life and journey and hope that the new scholarship fund in her honor will give students opportunities that she has never had.
Her grandmother tells News 12 that they will continue to pray for her recovery.
The family says that they are still working out the details of the scholarship.
