Torrington Social Security building evacuated after suspicious letter found

Social Security Administration offices in Torrington were evacuated Tuesday after a suspicious letter was found inside the building.
The incident happened just before 8 a.m. inside the Social Security Administration offices at 147 Litchfield St.
The FBI, Connecticut Bomb Squad and Torrington Fire and Police departments responded to the scene and began evacuating people from the building.
The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad retrieved the letter and determined it did not contain any harmful substance, officials say.
Officials say the envelope was suspected of potentially having a white power and being related to other incidents in the
region.
No one was injured.
