CLAREMONT -

Police are looking for four men who assaulted and robbed a man in Claremont.

Police say it happened Tuesday, Feb. 26. around 9:30 p.m.

They say four men randomly jumped a 39-year-old man along 170th Street near Grand Concourse.

They say they pushed the victim to the ground, and that he was badly beat up with minor injuries to the head and to the rest of his body.

News 12 is told they took the victim’s cellphone, necklace and wallet with $280 inside before running off. The victim says a good Samaritan found the wallet, gave it back to him and he saved it for police.

A bodega manager told News 12, the people police are looking for are regulars. He recognized them from surveillance photos. He says he oftentimes has to kick the suspects out of his store for fear they may steal something.

The manager also says that the victim was noticeably drunk at the time of his attack.

Police believe the suspects are all around 18 to 20 years old.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
