Hamden school employee quits after video shows her using racist remarks
A school employee in Hamden has left her job after a video surfaced showing her using racial slurs against an African American man.
Officials say the woman repeatedly uses a racial slur against the man at a supermarket in East Haven. They say it also appears that the woman spit at the man as he walked away.
School administrators also filed a report with the State Department of Children and Families because the woman's children witnessed the incident.
The Hamden School District released a statement saying: "The language the employee used in the video is in conflict with the values of the Hamden Public School System. Someone who will use that sort of language in any setting, whether public or private, is not someone we want anywhere near our children. The employee is separated from service and we hope that her children will receive the support they need after witnessing such a traumatic event."
The woman's name and job were not disclosed by the district.
