NEW YORK -

A man has been arrested in Florida in connection with the 1999 shooting of an NYPD officer.

NYPD Commission James O'Neill tweeted a photo of 43-year-old Lester Pearson.

Officials say he was taken into custody in Jacksonville, Florida.

Pearson is accused of shooting off-duty Officer Vincent Ling in the Bronx in 1999.

Authorities say Pearson was living under the fake name "Michael Davis" and had a fake ID from Georgia.

There was no word on when he would be extradited to New York to face charges.
