WAKEFIELD -

The search is on for the man police say robbed a Dollar General at gunpoint in Wakefield.

Police say the incident, which was caught on surveillance video, happened Sunday, March 17 just before 3 p.m.  at the Dollar General on White Plains Road.

A 24-year-old female employee told officers she came face-to-face with the suspected robber and his gun.

They say he was demanding she give him money from the cash register. However, as she was handing over the cash, officials say the man reached over to grab more money from inside the register.

On the day this happened he was last seen wearing dark sunglasses and a black mask covering his face, though he didn’t keep the mask on the entire time.

He was also wearing dark sneakers with light shoelaces and carrying black backpack.

Police say he stole $97 before he fled.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
