Police: 71-year-old man punched in face in Soundview

Police say a 71-year-old disabled veteran was viciously attacked in Soundview.
They say the man was punched several times in the face while walking out of 955 Evergreen Ave. after midnight on Feb. 28.
Rosalie Parris says her husband Gregory was walking toward a cab across the street from his apartment building when he was approached.
The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals Jacobi where he was treated for face injuries.
Parris says her husband has remained in the hospital in intensive care since the attack.
The NYPD tells News 12 it only knows of one suspect in the attack, who was caught on surveillance video. The suspect got away by running into a building across the street.
News 12 is told there is 24-hour security for the apartment building, but during the early morning hours one guard makes rounds for that building and another apartment building.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
