NYCHA tenant says Sack Wern problems creating health issues

A Bronx woman says ongoing problems with her leaky ceiling in her NYCHA apartment are affecting her health.
The woman, who wants to be called Jen, says her apartment in the Sack Wern Houses has been leaking for years.
"I feel like I am an animal. I pay my bills and my bills are paid up-to-date. This is abuse,” she says.

She says she has sent multiple tickets to NYCHA.
Jen says she took NYCHA to court, and a judge ruled that it had to fix the unsafe condition in her home.

A few days after leaving the courtroom, another part of the ceiling came tumbling down.

She says her mattress had to be moved by the FDNY into her living room because it wasn’t safe for her to sleep in her bedroom.

Jen says she has also been dealing with newly developed asthma. She claims it’s an issue that she didn't have prior to moving into her apartment.
She says she also has a special-needs daughter who cannot live in the home due to the conditions.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA, and it said it has staff on site to make repairs to the ceiling and will be working with the tenant to schedule plaster and paint work.
