3-month elevator battle at Richman Plaza prompts action by tenants

Tenants living at 20 Richman Plaza are fed up with the lack of elevator service in their building and are now taking action.
The tenants say only two of the four elevators in the building work. They say it's been that way since a fire damaged the elevators in January.
Currently two elevators serve the entire 43-story high rise. Tenants living on the higher floors have to call security to have an elevator sent to them.
The situation prompted tenant Crystal Rose to start a petition. She has more than 150 signatures so far. She is also taking the matter to court and withholding rent.
"I'm going to do what it takes to get something done," says Rose.
According to a letter from building management to the tenants, the two elevators that are currently down are in the process of being repaired. Once the city's Department of Buildings inspects them, the two current working elevators will be put out of service for upgrades.
The tenants say they have waited long enough and want all four elevators back in service for the more than 400 people who live in the building.
