THE BRONX -

A 6-year-old fell out of a third-story window in the Bronx while the child's parents installed an air-conditioning unit, police say.

Police responded to the call around 7 p.m. Friday at 3119 Bailey Ave.

According to authorities, the child fell out an open window and landed in a mulchy garden area, which helped lessen the blow.

The child was brought to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
