Mobile speed camera to come back to City Island school

A mobile speed camera will be coming back to City Island in front of P.S. 175.
City Island Avenue is the main road in City Island so traffic can be heavy, residents say.
“This is a consistent location where we get complaints about traffic irregularities, speeding,” says community activist John Doyle.  “It is not uncommon to see people just go through the red light."
Those concerns were brought to elected officials who reached out to the DOT and put a mobile speed camera up.  It was up for a time earlier this year, and DOT officials say it will be back.
Assembly member Mike Benedetto says legislators in Albany have authorized an additional 600 speed cameras to be put up near city schools, and it is waiting on the governor's signature.
