Students at South Bronx Community Charter High School took part in an anti-bullying rally Saturday to help raise awareness.
It's part of an effort to fight suicide. The idea came after a 9-year-old Alabama girl took her own life after suffering through bullying. The girl attended a school under the same umbrella as SBC, compelling the students to act.
Handwritten notes and signs on the walls included words of encouragement. A panel discussion was also being held with students who could speak about their own experiences with overcoming bullying.
The school and students hope that other communities will follow by putting on similar events.
