2 injured in basketball court shooting at Walton Avenue park

A shooting on a basketball court left two people injured Wednesday.

Police say they are looking for the two men who fired multiple times at the people playing basketball inside Walton Park.

The incident was captured on surveillance video. The video shows the suspect police say was holding the weapon jump onto a platform and shoot over the fence into the basketball court and park filled with people, including children.

When police arrived at around 7 p.m., they found a 16-year-old boy shot in his foot and a 47-year-old man shot in his forearm.

Both were taken to New York Presbyterian Allen Pavilion Hospital.

The park was recently renovated and opened just six days ago.

News 12 is told the children affected are being offered counseling through school.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
