Judge sentences man for fatal J'Ouvert Festival shooting

he man charged in the 2016 shooting death of 22-year-old college student during the J'Ouvert Festival was sentenced on Friday.
A judge sentenced 20-year-old Reginald Moise to 17 years and four months in prison for the death of Tiarah Poyau. He was acquitted of murder but convicted of charges including criminal possession of a weapon, criminally negligent homicide and reckless endangerment.
Poyau was a student at St. Johns at the time.
Moise apologized to her family before learning his fate. The family says they hope the sentence serves as an example to prevent anything like this from happening again.
