Sotomayor gives keynote address at Manhattan College graduation

THE BRONX -

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor delivered the keynote address to hundreds of graduates at Manhattan College on Friday.

The Bronx native told graduates that knowledge is power, and that they could use that power to change the world around them. She advised the group to use their education to give to others – and to use that action as a measure of happiness.

Her message resonated with such students as Isani Castro, who is headed for law school in the fall.

“Just coming from the Bronx, and being able to achieve all the things that she has achieved, is a huge inspiration for me,” says Castro, a first-generation student. “I’m going into law school and I thank her for that.”
