Police: Man wanted in connection to brutal beating in Morrisania

Police say they're searching for a man wanted in connection to a vicious beating in Morrisania on May 1.

According to police, a 71-year-old man was approached from behind on Third Avenue near the corner of 167th Street. They say the suspect began beating the victim with an unknown object and beat him until he was unconscious.

The suspect fled the scene. News 12 is told the victim does not have life-threatening injuries and nothing was stolen.

First responders rushed the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was treated for a swollen right eye and cuts to the face.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
