Officials warn against barbecuing in undesignated park areas

Officials are telling residents that if they plan on barbecuing this Memorial Day and throughout the summer, to be mindful of undesignated areas.
President of the Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Edith Blitzer says there are penalties if caught grilling in a prohibited areas.
The Parks Department states on its website that residents cannot:
  • Litter and dump debris
  • Use propane
  • Barbecue in non-authorized areas
  • Barbecue near trees, tree roots or buildings
  • Grill less than 3 feet above the ground
  • Be under 18 years old
Officials ask anyone who barbecues to clean up properly.
