A Hunts Point family says their dog, Shadow, was stolen in an incident caught on camera.
Surveillance video of the incident shows a neighbor, who often walks the dog, tying Shadow up outside a bodega. Then, a person in a striped jacket walks away with the dog.
Felipe Aries, Shadow’s owner, says the family pet also functions as a caretaker. Aries suffers from lupus and an irregular heartbeat, and the dog would serve as an alarm for him to take his medicine.
Police say the search for the dog is an open investigation. They are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
