A state plan to get large trucks off neighborhood streets is getting the green light, but not all businesses are on board.

The work on the southern point of Bruckner Expressway would add exit ramps, helping alleviate some of the traffic that would go to the Hunts Point food distribution center.

The state project's goal is to keep large trucks out of neighborhoods and provide a more direct route for trucks to the Hunts Point Peninsula.

The state says the project was originally going to direct trucks onto Edgewater Road to the other side of Hunts Point to reduce truck traffic.

The organization Rocking the Boat says that is not the case.

"Changing the project so the trucks actually go onto Edgewater Road is taking the not-great situation we have now and making it way worse," says Adam Green of Rocking the Boat.

Organizers say there are also safety concerns. Since the organization makes and operates boats, there are environmental concerns as well, with trucks contributing to pollution in the air and in the Bronx River.

State officials told News 12 that open meetings were held with elected officials and residents before deciding on the plan.
