Belmont building still without mail despite new box installation

BELMONT -

Tenants in a Belmont apartment building have gone months without working mailboxes, leaving them to battle long lines at the post office instead.

News 12 covered the story last month, when tenants complained about their broken mailbox system. Now, new mailboxes have been installed, but tenants say they are still not getting their mail.

Luz Vasquez says her Crotona Avenue building wasn't getting mail for nearly three months. She says she'd complain to her landlord, but nothing would be fixed.

Vasquez says the mailboxes were fixed last Friday, but names and bar codes still have to be installed, and it's unclear when the task will be completed.

News 12 reached out to the building's landlord to see what took so long in the first place and when the entire process would be finished, but they did not want to comment.
