A Fordham University student was honored Saturday for his service in the Bronx and beyond.
Kraig Puccia is a rugby player committed to helping others, which is why his coach nominated him for the Significance of Life Award.
Puccia says he has always done community service and joined Global Outreach at Fordham University. He was sent to Alaska on a mission trip to help domestic violence victims.
When he won the service award for rugby players, Puccia decided to donate the $5,000 reward to the Tundra's Woman Coalition in Alaska.
"All these opportunities I've had, all these experiences, everyone I've met, they've all instilled in me this mission to give back whatever you can," Puccia says.
Along with Global Outreach, Puccia also volunteers with the Bronx Italian-American Historical Initiative, as well as the Veterans Advocacy Project. He says it's important to try to understand the struggles other people go through.
