NYCHA tenant: Mold, mildew, leaky ceiling plague Soundview apartment

Posted: Updated:
SOUNDVIEW -

A woman living in a NYCHA complex in Soundview says nothing has been done about the mildew, mold and leaking ceiling inside her apartment.

Shaunquilla Dark says she and her four children have been dealing with the problem for nearly a month, but that no one from NYCHA has responded to the issues.

She also says that all four of her children suffer from asthma.

“It's horrible having to stay in here," Dark told News 12. “It's not safe…and it's unhealthy.”

NYCHA told News 12 in a statement: “Staff completed repairs to the apartment front door yesterday. Staff is scheduling necessary roof repairs after which repairs to the kitchen wall can be scheduled and is also scheduling painters to treat the bathroom."
