MOUNT EDEN -

A young woman is recovering after a violent interaction with a man on the street in Mount Eden.

Police say it happened on Jerome Avenue near Elliot Place on June 24 around 4:15 a.m.

They say the woman was walking alone on the street when a man in a white T-shirt approached her. That's when police say he started talking to her, but that she wasn't interested, refusing his advances and trying to just walk away.

Police tell News 12 the man then punched her in the face and stole her cellphone.

News 12 is told that the woman suffered pain and redness to the face, but did not need to go to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Police say they are still investigating the case but do not have any suspects.
