Police: Male swimmer goes missing near Throgs Neck Bridge

NEW YORK -

Emergency officials responded to a scene near the Throgs Neck Bridge where a swimmer went missing.

Police say they received a call for a drowning just after 7 p.m. on the Queens side of the bridge.

Authorities were able to safely rescue a 40-year-old woman after she jumped in the waters from a boat with a 46-year-old man. The man never resurfaced.

The search continued Thursday night as divers looked franctically for the missing swimmer.
