The search continues today for the man who went missing after going for a swim in the East River Thursday.
Police say a 40-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man took a rowboat out in the East River near SUNY Maritime College around 7 p.m.
While out on the water, News 12 is told the man, who is from Queens, decided to go for a swim. He jumped in the water but never returned to surface. The woman tells police she stayed on the boat and called 911 for help.

Emergency crews spent several hours in the water Thursday, searching for him and even had crews in the air before it got too dark. However, they had no luck and officials called off the search for the night.
News 12 is told they're expanding their search in hopes to find the missing swimmer.
Officials say the Coast Guard, NYPD and firefighter crews continued the search early Friday morning.
