Sinkhole in Morris Heights reveals exposed pipe; residents fear gas leak

Morris Heights residents say they are worried a sinkhole on Davidson Avenue is on the brink of collapse.
One resident says he noticed the sinkhole on his block about a week ago.

It is unclear what caused the hole, but an exposed pipe can be seen with a large piece of concrete sitting on top of it. Some residents say they are afraid it may cause a gas leak.

News 12 contacted Con Edison, who said it has been taking gas readings each day since the sinkhole was first reported. Officials say they have found no indications of a gas leak.

Con Edison put up cones and barricades around the sinkhole, but residents say the city needs to fix the issue as soon as possible.

News 12 reached out to the New York City Department of Transportation and Con Edison. Both say they are working together to repair the issue.
