NYS Senate’s task force roundtable tour makes stop in the Bronx to discuss opioid crisis

BELMONT -

The New York State Joint Senate Task Force on Opioids, Addiction & Overdose Prevention is asking for suggestions on how to combat the opioid crisis through a roundtable tour.

The first stop on the roundtable tour is at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx.

Advocates tell News 12 they’re excited that the Bronx is the first stop on the task force’s tour across the state.

The task force says its goal is to source ideas from people who see and deal with the crisis every day on the ground, asking advocates and community members to testify on gaps in the current system.

Democrats are the majority in state senate for first time in years, and the people who rallied outside St. Barnabas Hospital Friday say they’re hopeful that will help change the state's approach to combat the crisis.

Following the Bronx, the tour continues to six other locations, hoping to put an end to the crisis in New York that takes so many lives.
