Giveaway helps students with incarcerated parents get set for school

Hundreds of kids in the South Bronx have a parent who is incarcerated, and a group called Children's Haven is making sure that the students and their families have everything they need to head back to school in a few weeks.
"They struggle with poverty, and the shame, guilt and stigma of having a parent in prison," explains Children's Haven CEO Patricia Sealy Paster. "So it's like an onion, there are many layers that these kids deal with on a daily basis."
The group held a back-to-school giveaway event on Saturday.
Each child who attended received a backpack that was filled with supplies, including notebooks, crayons, pencils and rulers.
