Disabled tenant living with no working elevator in Morrisania for weeks

Posted: Updated:

Neighbors and a disabled tenant in Morrisania have been living with no working elevator for a few weeks.

Robert Middleton tells News 12 he didn't even leave his apartment to celebrate his birthday last month. He says a majority of the summer he's been trapped inside.

"I don't know what to do," says Middleton.

Middleton says he even missed a doctor's appointment where he was supposed to pick up a new motorized chair.

Middleton says he has to rely on a home-aid nurse for groceries, which adds extra expenses every month. He says he's reached out to Kraus Enterprises but has not heard back yet.

Tenants say they shouldn't have to pay rent until the elevator is fixed.
