A Bronx woman says she has not been able to access her storage unit after it caught fire in 2017.
Customers say they can't get inside Tuck it Away Storage and can't get to the items that were not destroyed in the fire.
Audrey Rivers says she had air conditioners in storage, a flat-screen TV, shoes and mementos from her son's childhood. She says she just wants to get back what was always hers. Rivers says she's not sure if those items made it through the fire.
She says her insurance only offered to cover $1,000 in damages.
According to the New York City Department of Finance, Tuck it Away Storage still owns the property. News 12 was unable to contact the building's owners. When going to Tuck it Away Storage's website, users are redirected to Extra Space Storage. A spokesperson says although they do manage some Tuck it Away Storage properties, this was never one of its stores.
The Department of Buildings says it has recently contacted the building's owner to see if there's a safe way for tenants to receive their property.
