Community asks for answers on vacant lot in Riverdale

Posted: Updated:

Community members are asking what is going to be done about a vacant lot in Riverdale.

Many in the community are calling the vacant Riverdale Avenue lot an eyesore, saying years have gone by and that they are tired of looking at it.

A sign on the gate says demolition dating back to 2013, but there has been no action since and it seems like no plans are underway.

Montefiore's ambulatory care facility was blocked in 2015. The Department of Buildings told News 12 the developer put in an application for a 14-story mixed-use building in 2017, but no permits have been submitted to get that going either.

News 12 reached out to the developer of the site, and there is no word on any plans just yet. News 12 also reached out to the owners of the land, Riverdale Realty Development LLC, and has not heard back yet.
