Residents say constant construction on W. Kingsbridge Road makes driving difficult

Drivers say the commute on West Kingsbridge Road has been difficult because of street work that doesn't ever seem to be finished.
Residents say the work has been going on for months — leaving drivers with an unnecessary obstacle while navigating an already busy street.
Con Edison says it is repairing a manhole, but at least one resident says he's noticed this work being done at West Kingsbridge Road and University Avenue since December.
Councilman Fernando Cabrera says his office has been trying to clear the mess up since May, after receiving complaints from constituents. But Cabrera says there has been confusion on the part of city agencies.
After News 12 reached out to Con Ed, officials sent an employee who would not discuss the situation — but they did have a conversation with the councilman while News 12 was on scene.
Cabrera says he's proposing a bill that would hold utility companies accountable for finishing work in a timely fashion by imposing fines to ensure residents do not have to deal with these kinds of inconveniences.
