A nonprofit organization is giving teenage girls in transitional housing a boost of self-confidence while preparing them for success at school and in life.

The Star Boutique is a one-stop shop for empowerment to help young girls move forward from their current situation.

The boutique provides clothing, shoes, accessories, hygienic products, school supplies, makeovers and mentorships.

Some of the girls are homeless or transitioning out of it, and some are in group homes, foster care or living couch-to-couch.

Star Boutique doesn't have a permanent store, so Sunday’s pop-up was at Bronx Community College.

Before the girls got to shopping, they heard from two speakers who are educators and authors.
