The Knicks were the NBA's worst team last season. On Monday, the team rolled out a very new roster in hopes of taking steps in the right direction in 2019-20.
NBA training camps are getting underway this week, and the Knicks are rolling out a team very different than fans and the front office had hoped. Though they have nine new names on the squad, it is absent of big names like Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, who instead decided to play across town for the Brooklyn Nets.
The team's big additions include Julius Randle, who averaged a career-high 21.5 points per game last year in New Orleans.
"If I ever had a chance to play in New York, I always told my family, I always told my wife, my friends, if I ever had a chance to play for the Knicks, that this would definitely be a no-brainer for me," says Randle.
Also new: Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson and Marcus Morris, among others. They also added Duke superstar R.J. Barrett with the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft.
The dawn of a new season also offers a fresh start for those who already had taken the court at MSG last season.
"Oh man, just a totally different feel," says Knicks forward Kevin Knox. "It's just more electric this year. We've just got more spirit in the locker room, on the court."
