Riders Alliance asks for public input on MTA's Fair Fares pilot program
Posted: Updated:The Riders Alliance says it wants to hear from people eligible for the MTA's Fair Fares pilot program.
The alliance says it is gathering feedback on the discounted MetroCard program by launching a new digital tool where eligible applicants can sound off on the program.
The online survey is open to the 76,000 people already in the program, as well as the hundreds of thousands of people who may be eligible but not yet enrolled.
The discounted MetroCards will be available to low-income New Yorkers who fall under certain thresholds depending on household size.
Activists say they want to learn from those who are already enrolled, including what is working and what needs improvement. They are also gathering input from potential enrollees about how they would like to receive information about the program.
Enrollment has been on an invite-only basis. In January, the city will open up enrollment to all eligible New Yorkers who will be able to apply online.
