A Bronx man is facing federal child porn charges after authorities say he was caught recording a minor performing sex acts.
On Tuesday, police arrested 31-year-old Michael Barreto, after he was accused of recording himself involved in a sexual act with a now 15-year-old boy.
Officials raided his home on Gerard Avenue near East 164th Street, where according to a criminal complaint, law enforcement discovered porn on Barreto’s phone.
The complaint alleges photos taken in July reveal the 15-year-old boy touching the suspect's exposed privates. The complaint also states Barreto expressed to the victim he wanted to have intercourse.
Detectives found the victim met Barreto around November of 2017 and had been communicating electronically through July 2019. It also states about that time in July, the victim went to Barreto’s house where he played video games, smoked marijuana and drank alcohol that Barreto provided.
That’s where the victim told investigators they were involved in sexual activity.
Neighbors who spoke to News 12 say they believe there are additional victims. They say they've witnessed Barreto fondling his privates in public stairwells and chasing children around with his genitals out.
“He said the devil made him do it. He didn't know. I said listen no devil is going to make you do something so often,” says neighbor Lucia Rodriguez. “If you look at him, he looks nice. But he liked kids.”
News 12 is told Barreto was arrested and charged last month for trying to lure a 10-year-old child.
He now faces federal charges including possession of child porn.
