EDENWALD -

The city is increasing safety at the Edenwald Houses as police continue their search for a group of men involved in shootout last week.

The shooting happened three days before Officer Brian Mulkeen was killed while trying to arrest an armed man in the area.

Thursday’s shootout was the reason Officer Mulkeen and his partners were patrolling the area early Sunday morning.

Authorities are searching for nine men all believed to be between the ages of 20 to 30 years old.

The shocking surveillance video captured several men around 7p.m. pulling out their guns and firing at each other throughout the complex of the

Edenwald Houses. Some are seen running and rolling trying to avoid the bullets.

Another video shows others dashing into the complex with guns in their hand. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying them. Police also

say they recovered a .22 caliber revolver.

In efforts to monitor the situation, Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYPD are temporarily expanding their anti-gang and violence services for several

weeks.

Community centers will be open to 10 p.m. on Saturdays. They’re hoping to keep open communication with Bronx residents who live in complex.

News 12 saw patrol cars driving up and down the area, as well as police officers stationed in front of nearly every entrance of the complex.
