Fire officials say a five-alarm fire broke out at a Mount Eden building Friday night.

They say firefighters responded to 1555 Grand Concourse around 8:15 p.m. where the fire began on the top floor of a six-story building.

The fire then spread to the space between the ceiling and the roof.

The FDNY says more than 200 firefighters and EMS units were at the scene. They say nine firefighters and one civilian were injured.

The Red Cross tells News 12 the fire displaced 23 adults and 12 children, along with many pets.

The fire was put out before 11:30 p.m. Officials say the cause of the fire was electrical.

Anyone who needs help from the Red Cross can call it at 1-877-RedCross.
