Investigators say they made a drug bust in University Heights, where a man was allegedly packaging fentanyl and other drugs right near a school and day care centers.

DEA agents and NYPD officers say they spotted the suspect walking out of 2322 Andrews Ave. with a backpack on. Once they got a hold of it, they say they found three brick-shaped packages.

Investigators say they then got a search warrant for the building, where they found more drugs -- in total more than 13 pounds of what they think is fentanyl, as well as methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.

Investigators say the drugs have a street value of about $1 million.

Prosecutors say Wadley Tavares was packing the drugs inside a three-bedroom apartment, where officers also found drug paraphernalia, a scale and a kilogram press.

The building is next to a private elementary school, and there are multiple day cares on the same block.

Tavares has been charged with several counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $200,000.
